~ Parsha Matot-Masei ~

Dear friends!

As we enter Shabbat Parashat Matot-Masei together with the beginning of Chodesh Av, we stand at a profound intersection of hope and reflection.

Parashat Masei recounts the journeys of our people through the wilderness, reminding us that every stop—even the difficult ones—was part of a greater path toward the Promised Land. At the same time, the month of Av begins with a call to deepen our introspection, as our Sages teach: "Mi'shenichnas Av, mema'atin b'simchah"—when Av begins, we temper our joy. Yet this is not a loss of hope; it is an invitation to transform pain into purpose and brokenness into growth.

The vows in Matot remind us that our words have the power to create reality. Our journeys in Masei remind us that every step matters. Together, they teach that through faithful speech, meaningful action, and trust in Hashem, every stage of life—even the most challenging—can become part of our redemption.

May this Shabbat strengthen our faith, unite our community, and inspire us to journey together toward greater holiness, comfort, and peace. May we merit to see the mourning of Av transformed into joy with the coming of Mashiach, speedily in our days.

Shabbat Shalom u'Mevorach!
