Rabbi Daniel El-Gad (Kalendarev)
Rabbi • Teacher • Mohel • Shochet • Sofer • Mentor • Community Builder
Rabbi Daniel El-Gad was born in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, to David and Liza Kalendarev, during a time when Jewish life in the Soviet Union struggled to survive. In 1991, one week before Shavuot, he experienced a profound spiritual awakening at Yeshiva Torat Chaim in Moscow—an encounter that set the course for his life's mission.
He continued his studies in Jerusalem at Yeshiva Midrash Sefaradi, spending six years immersed in Torah and rabbinical training.
In 1998, Rabbi El-Gad came to the United States as a shaliach, later marrying his wife, Dr. Yael (Kalendarev) El-Gad, in Denver. Together with his father-in-law, he founded the first Bukharian Jewish congregation in Colorado.
Since 2001, Rabbi El-Gad has served the Miami community, becoming the rabbi of Congregation Nier Avraham, the first Bukharian Sephardic synagogue in the area. He serves as a Rabbi, teacher, shochet, mohel, sofer, menaker, and spiritual mentor to Jews of all backgrounds.
Rabbi El-Gad and his wife Yael, a doctor of pharmacy, are blessed with six children and grandchildren. Their home is dedicated to Torah, chessed, and community leadership.
In 2015, the family received a blessing from Rav Chaim Kanievsky זצ״ל, who encouraged them—and their community—to look toward the future of Jewish life in Israel and the hope for the coming of Mashiach and the rebuilding of the Third Beit HaMikdash.
Rabbi Daniel El-Gad provides dedicated spiritual leadership, halachic guidance, and Jewish education with professionalism, care, and integrity. With deep knowledge and commitment to Torah values, Rabbi Daniel El-Gad continues to serve the community through teaching, counseling, and life-cycle services, offering guidance rooted in Torah, Talmud, Halacha, and Mussar traditions.
